Long time Glasgow resident, Myrl Lynn passed away at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia May 31, 2015. He was 87 years of age. Myrl Edward Lynn was born July 29, 1927 in Glasgow, MO to Denny and Rose (Wilson) Lynn. Myrl attended Glasgow High School and joined the U.S. Army Sea Bees before his senior year. After the service, Mr. Lynn worked for Bechtel Corp. for 25 years overseas. While working in Iraq in 1990, Myrl and a group of workers were taken captive and held hostage for 108 days. After retirement he moved back to his home town. Myrl was a member of the First Baptist Church in Glasgow. He was also a member of the Glasgow Museum Board and an active member in the Glasgow Lions Club. Myrl enjoyed living in Glasgow and was a very kind and generous man. He always decorated his home every holiday and would often host Christmas parties at his home every year. He will truly be missed by members of the Glasgow community and all who knew him. Along with his parents Myrl was preceded in death by three brothers, Lawrence, Robert and William Lynn. Funeral services for Mr. Lynn will be 10:30 AM, Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at the Friemonth-Freese Funeral Chapel in Glasgow with Revs. Jim and Jane Crooks officiating. Visitation will be 6 to 8 PM, Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Burial will be in Washington Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Glasgow First Baptist Church or the Glasgow Museum in care of the funeral home.
