Vivian Bentley passed away November 30, 2015 at John Knox Care Center in Lees Summit, MO where she had lived since leaving Glasgow. She was 95 years of age. Vivian Louise Bentley was born April 20, 1920 in Glasgow to James O. and Carol C. (Mullins) Earickson. She was educated in Glasgow Public Schools graduating in 1938. She was the starting center for the State Championship Glasgow women’s basketball team that year. She received her BS Education Degree from Pittsburg State University in Kansas. Vivian taught 16 years in the Turner United School District in Kansas. She married Richard T. Bentley, Jr. August 18, 1975 in Kansas City, MO and he preceded her in death October 18, 2006. While in Glasgow Mrs. Bentley was active in the United Methodist Church, Glasgow Study Club and American Association of University Women along with being a housewife and mother. Mrs. Bentley is survived by her son, James Stout and his wife, Jane of Kansas City, MO, two grandchildren, Nisa and Keith, two great grandchildren, Sophia and Alex and a number of nieces, nephews and friends. Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one son, John Stout, daughter, Carol Burke, brother, Keith Earickson and a sister Marilyn Day. A memorial service will be 11 AM, May 14, 2016 at the Friemonth-Freese Funeral Home in Glasgow with Rev. Brenda West officiating. Burial will follow the service at Washington Cemetery in Glasgow. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Glasgow United Methodist Church in care of the funeral home.
