Former Glasgow resident, Viola Himmelberg passed away April 21, 2017 at Seasons Care Center in Kansas City, MO. Viola Louise Himmelberg was born January 13, 1921 in Glasgow, MO to Alvin and Annie (Fuemmeler) Brucks. She attended St. Mary’ Catholic School in Glasgow. Viola married George Martin Himmelberg November 5, 1947 at St. Mary’s Church and he preceded her in death July 3, 2011. Viola enjoyed being around her family and friends and was a devout member of St. Mary’s Church and the Council of Catholic Women. She is survived by two daughters, Connie (Bob) Hutchin of Lee’s Summit, MO and Nancy (Ken) Mellard of Leawood, KS; one son, Jerry (Kerry) Himmelberg of Kansas City, MO and one son-in-law, Bobby Parks of Glasgow; nine grandchildren, Brian, Kristin, Tim, Leah, Brent, Rachel, Michelle, Kelly and Kasie; 13 great grandchildren, Emma, Ellie, Sydney, McKenna, Kennedy, Jordon, Mason, Jacob, Jackson, Brynn, Silas, Alexandra and Grant. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce Parks. A funeral mass will be 10 AM, Monday, April 24, 2017 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Glasgow with Father Alex Gabriel officiating. Visitation will be 6 to 7:30 PM, Sunday evening with a Prayer Service – Rosary at 7:30 PM at the Friemonth-Freese Funeral Home in Glasgow. Memorials are suggested to St. Mary’s School in care of the funeral home.
