Jerry Schaefer 1968 – 2019 Glasgow resident, Jerry Schaefer, 50, passed away February 2, 2019 at Chariton Park Health Care in Salisbury, MO, after a long battle with cancer. Jerry Alan Schaefer was born July 24, 1968 in Fayette, MO, the son of James A. and Nina Bell (Reams) Schaefer. He graduated from Glasgow High School in 1986. Jerry held several jobs throughout his life. He worked as a farmhand, a mechanic for Penny Plate, a haul driver for the Glasgow Rock Quarry, and most recently worked for Mahnken Cattle Farms in Salisbury. Jerry was an excellent gardener, an outdoorsman who loved fishing, camping, canoeing, and the Missouri River. He also enjoyed tinkering with lawnmowers and working small engine repair jobs. Survivors include his mother, Nina Bell Schaefer of Glasgow; son, Joseph Schaefer of Franklin, MO; daughter, Jasmine Schaefer of Franklin, MO; grandson, Koby Schaefer; three sisters, Martha (Jim) Kaylor of Glasgow, Alice (Jay) Kaylor of Richmond, MO and Mary Kay (Steven) Noll of Armstrong, MO. He was preceded in death by his father, James Schaefer and a brother, Larry Schaefer. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM, Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at Friemonth-Freese Funeral Home in Glasgow, with Pastor Jamie Page officiating. Visitation will be an hour before the service. Interment will follow the funeral at Washington Cemetery in Glasgow. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Mary School or Cancer Research, in care of the funeral home.
