Boonville resident, Mancil Lee Jobe, died Monday, August 18 at Ashley Manor in Boonville. He was 91 years of age. Mr. Jobe was born in Bagnell, MO, on June 16, 1923, the son of Cort and Goldie Headrick Jobe. He served his country as a member of the United States Army during World War II in the European Theatre, being honorably discharged in October of 1945. After his military service, he was employed in Boonville at the Holsom Bakery for many years and also worked for Geiger Gas and the Boonville Sale Barn as well as for several local farmers. On November 16, 1968, Mancil Jobe was united in marriage to Martha Finn in Versailles, MO. They were to enjoy over 40 years together until her death on June 25, 1998. Survivors include two sons; Ronnie Jobe of Liberty, MO and Larry Jobe of Elizabethtown, KY, three daughters; Willa Jean Marcanti and Brenda Kay Cavenaugh both of Globe, AZ and Mary Jane Murry of Milton-Freewater, OR, and one step-daughter, Carol Felten of Fayette. Also surviving are two half-brothers; Charlie Jobe of Puyallup, WA and Carl Jobe of Bunceton, MO and five half-sisters; Lena Hartong of Orting, WA, Stella Porter of Crystal Lakes, MO, Donna Kontos of Marina, CA, Fannie Chipley of New Franklin, and Janet Harris of Boonville. Nine grandchildren and four step-grandchildren also survive, as do numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Along with his wife and parents, Mr. Jobe was preceded in death by his step-mother, Eva Webb Jobe, his son Billy Joe, his sister Dorothy Widener, and his brother Claudie Jobe. Funeral services for Mancil Jobe will be held at 11 am on Thursday, August 21, at Friemonth-Freese Chapel in Fayette with Rev. Jamie Page officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at Boonesboro Cemetery with Cody Jobe, Larry Felten, Jason Sprick, Phil Salmon, Gary Grant, and Chris Carey serving as pallbearers. The family will greet friends one hour before the service at the funeral home.
