Leon Crowley 1930 – 2021 Rural Glasgow resident, Leon Crowley, 91, passed away at Riverdell Care Center in Boonville, MO on October 15, 2021. Herbert Leon Crowley, III was born in Glasgow, MO on March 28, 1930, a son to the late Herbert and Frances Wray (Spires) Crowley, Jr. He graduated from Glasgow High School with the class of 1948. Leon enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1952. After completing his basic training, he married Doris Martin in Harrison, Arkansas on March 29, 1952. Together they’ve enjoyed over 69 years of marriage. Leon continued his service where he was stationed in Newfoundland as a propeller repairman during the Korean War. Leon earned the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged on January 18, 1956. Leon spent his career working on his farm. He raised livestock, crops and tobacco. Leon was an avid gun collector and enjoyed going to gun shows and auctions. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Survivors include his wife, Doris Crowley of Boonville, MO; sister, Gloria Black of Glasgow, MO and daughter-in-law, Brenda Dean of Glasgow, MO. He also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Leon was preceded in death by his son, Daryl Crowley, a sister, Marie Spieser, and his brother-in-law, Donald Martin. A graveside memorial service with full military honors will be 1 PM, Thursday, October 21, 2021 at Washington Cemetery in Glasgow, with Rev. Harold Young officiating.
