Fayette resident, Virginia “Snookie” Taylor, 82, passed away suddenly at her home on April 11, 2022. Virginia Ann Taylor, affectionately known by her friends and family as “Snookie,” was born at the home place in rural Fayette, Howard County, MO on June 19, 1939. She was a daughter to the late Emil Albert and Lois Virginia (Smith) Johnmeyer. Snookie graduated from Fayette High School with the class of 1957. On December 15, 1957, Snookie married the love of her life, Gail Taylor, at Moniteau Chapel Community Church, outside Fayette, MO. Together, they enjoyed over 53 years of marriage until Gail’s passing on February 7, 2011. Snookie began working at a young age with Johnmeyer Construction and later on the Taylor family farm. She helped with most of the farm work, tending to the cattle, hogs, and row crops. She then took a job with the Howard County Soil and Water Conservation District as the District Manager. She worked there for 23 years, retiring in 2010. Snookie was a devout Christian and always made her faith a priority in life. She was a faithful member of Faith Family Church and Moniteau Chapel Community Church. Survivors include her two children, Trish (Tyra) Elliott, and Nick (Linnie) Taylor, both of Fayette; five grandchildren, Samantha (Jordan) Kempf, Brittany Elliott and her fiancé, Brandon Reed, and Ian, Terry and Chelsea Taylor; two great-grandchildren, Evelyn and Addie Mae; three siblings, Louise Golob of Fayette, Bob “Buck” (Debbie) Johnmeyer of New Bloomfield, MO and Linda Kay (Gary) Nabors of Fayette. In addition to her husband and parents, Snookie was preceded in death by her son Danny Taylor, and a brother, Bill Johnmeyer. A memorial service celebrating Snookie’s life will be held 11 AM, Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at Faith Family Church in Fayette, with Pastor Jamie Page officiating.
