Gil Mattli 1938 – 2015 Gilbert Mattli passed away in Fayette April 11, 2015. He was 76 years of age. Gilbert “Gil” Leeroy Mattli was born December 28, 1938 in St. Louis, MO to Peter Paul and Ethel Victoria (Hesley) Mattli. He attended St. Louis Public Schools. Gil was a member of the Scottish Rite of St. Louis for more than 20 years, retiring as Executive Director 33 degree, of the Valley of St. Louis in 2004. He was especially proud of directing construction of their parking facility in downtown St. Louis. He was also a member of the Fayette-Howard Lodge No. 4 AF&AM. He was a member of Columbia, MO Living Church of God and a participant in their services as long as he was able. After the death of his first wife, some years earlier, he met a widow from Fayette. He and Beverly Williams married November 16, 2003. They moved to her home in Fayette in 2004. Gil is survived by his wife, Beverly of the home, three step children; Ted Williams of Armstrong, Tony (Sheri) Williams and Tina (Tim) Rice all of Fayette; step-grandchildren, Jill (Ryan) Dickneite, Jessi (Jay) O’Bannon, Jaime (Jordan) Woods, Erin (Nick) Dorman, Samantha and Sadie Williams, Taylor and Jacob Rice, five great grandchildren; Liam Dickneite, Braylin Brunkhorst, Emmett Woods, Oliver and Emmeline Dorman; also a step-sister-in-law and family, Nylah Beach of Roanoke, MO. He leaves a brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Joyce Mattli of California and nephew, Mike and Esther Mattli and family of Flordia. Gil had been ill for some time but loved to travel when able. He loved horses and supported a special horse at an animal retirement farm in Kentucky. There will be a funeral service 2 PM, Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at the Friemonth-Freese Funeral Home in Fayette with Pastors William Oswald and Robert Shultz officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, 1 to 2 PM. Burial will be in Wesley Chapel Cemetery near Armstrong. Memorials are suggested to Wesley Chapel Cemetery or Living Church of God in care of the funeral home.
