Alfred "Shorty" Jones 1933 - 2017 Alfred "Shorty" Jones passed away peacefully at his home in Fayette, April 11, 2017. He was 83 years of age. Alfred Cleo Jones was born September 6, 1933 in Boone County, Missouri, the son of Robert and Sophie (Rhodes) Jones. Shorty married the love of his life, Leona Acton on September 23, 1960 in Harrisburg, Missouri. Together they have enjoyed nearly 57 years of marriage. Shorty worked as a plumber for several local plumbing companies, including Paul Howard, Bobby Robb and his father in law Kenneth Acton. Shorty enjoyed the outdoors, especially watching wildlife. He was well known by many for his sense of humor. He is survived by his wife, Leona Jones; daughter, Melissa Jones and Larry Carter, of Fayette; grandson, Clinton (Destinee) Jones, of Fayette; five sisters: Althea Reeves, of Centralia, Jewel Lewis, of Hallsville, Wilma Brown, of Boonville, Lola (Emmet) Calvert, of Columbia, and Sue Morris (Larry Nichols) of Harrisburg; and a brother, Bill (Carol) Jones, of Harrisburg. He will also be remembered by numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Shorty was preceded in death by his step mother Audrey Jones, a brother, Robert Junior Jones, a sister, Anna Pearl Sanders, brothers in law: Woodrow Reeves, Denny Sanders, Rodney Brown and Bob Lewis, two infant children, Cynthia and Clinton, and his granddaughter Shauna Hayes. A private burial will take place at Fayette City Cemetery. Friends and Family are asked to celebrate Shorty's life at a gathering at the Alexander Building at the corner of S. Main and Morrison St. in Fayette, Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 1 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Hometown Homecare or Cancer Research, in care of Friemonth-Freese Funeral Service.
