Anna Downing passed away at her home in Fayette August 18, 2014. She was 70 years of age. Anna Mae Downing was born November 15, 1943 in Ottumwa, Iowa to Harry and Lucille Butler Shepherd. She attended Bloomfield High School. She married Jerry Downing August 27, 1961 in Bloomfield. The couple made their home in Columbia, MO for 43 years and then they moved to Fayette in 2012. Anna was a homemaker and enjoyed upholstering and cake decorating in her spare time. She is survived by her husband of the home, a son, Jay (Natalie) Downing of Fulton, a daughter, Joy Barbero of Columbia, four grandchildren, Julia, Andrea, Luke and Bethany, three brothers, Ken, Larry and Richard Shepherd and one sister, Mary Ann Goodwin. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a son, Jeff Downing. A funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Saturday, August 23, 2014 at Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield, IA with Rev. Bill Hornbeck officiating. Burial will be in the Troy Cemetery. A visitation will be 6 to 7:30 PM, Thursday evening at the Friemonth-Freese Funeral Home in Fayette, MO. Memorials are suggested to the grandchildren's college fund in care of Friemonth-Freese Funeral Home.
