Bernardine Stockman 1923 -2017 Armstrong resident, Bernardine Stockman passed away peacefully at her home February 21, 2017. She was 93 years of age. Bernardine T. Stockman was born in Sythen, Germany on June 14, 1923, the daughter of August and Anna (Muelenbrock) David. She came to Glasgow in 1954. On March 18, 1960, she took Citizenship becoming a naturalized citizen of the USA. She married Albert Stockman November 14, 1964 at St. Mary's Church. He preceded her in death August 27, 1971. Bernardine was a strong woman of faith and a devout member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Glasgow. She was also a member of the Council of Catholic Women (CCW). Bernardine was involved with the Steinmetz 4-H Club as a project leader and club leader. She passed her knowledge of needle work, sewing and cooking skills on to the next generation. She is survived by two daughters, Anna (Jeff) McBride of Armstrong, MO and Rita (David) Garnett of Stella, MO; seven grandchildren: Daniel, Sylvia, Anthony, Albert, Elizabeth, Michael and Matthew; two great-grandchildren: Samuel and Kathryn, two sister-in-law's and a number of nieces and nephews in Germany. In addition to her parents and husband, Bernardine was preceded in death by four brothers, William, August, Gustav, Johannes; two sisters, Elizabeth David and Walbuga Toennis. A Mass of Christian Burial for Bernardine will be 10 AM, Friday, February 24, 2017 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Glasgow, with Fr. Alex Gabriel officiating. Visitation will be held the evening before, Thurs., Feb. 23, at Friemonth-Freese Funeral Home in Glasgow from 5:30-7 PM. A Prayer Service will be prior to the visitation starting at 5 AM. Burial will follow the funeral at Washington Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to St. Mary's School or Church, in care of the funeral home.
