Bernie Korte

Long time Howard County farmer, Bernie Korte, age 66, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2023 at Glasgow Gardens, after a six-year battle with cancer.   

Bernard Joe Korte, affectionately known as, Bernie, was born November 14, 1956 in Boonville, MO.  He was one of four children born to the late Bernard J. “Jack” and Mary Ann (Yaeger) Korte.  He graduated from Glasgow High School with the class 1975.  On October 25, 1975, Bernie married the love of his life, Beth Ward, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Glasgow.  Together, they have enjoyed over 47 years of marriage.  As a lifelong farmer, Bernie’s work ethic was second to none.  He enjoyed working on the farm, hauling rock, and tinkering with his mud trucks.  Bernie will also be remembered as a fighter, defying all odds, and battling cancer for six years. 

Bernie is survived by his wife, Beth Korte, of Glasgow, MO; four children, Jeremy (Laura) Korte of Glasgow, MO, Ashley Korte of Chicago, IL, Ben (Courtney) Korte of Glasgow, MO and Jill (Cody) Thompson of Glasgow, MO; seven grandchildren, Isaac, Gus, Jayden, Emma, Carter, Wade and Ty; three siblings, Duane Korte of Columbia, MO, Sandra (John) Boyland of Glasgow, MO and Jackie Thomas of Moberly, MO.  He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.  

Following Bernie’s request, there will be no public services.  Inurnment will be held privately, at the convenience of the family.
