Bob Oser, age 77, passed away at University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia on October 30, 2024.

Robert William Oser, Jr. was born July 16, 1947 in Boonville, MO.  He was one of two children born to the late Robert William and Betty Mae (Beck) Oser, Sr.  Bob graduated from Brunswick High School with the class of 1965.  On October 23, 1978, Bob married Cindy Schaefer in Miami, OK.  The couple have shared just over 46 years of marriage. 

Bob spent the majority of his working career in the steel manufacturing industry.  He worked as a foreman for Standard Havens in Glasgow for many years.  He then worked in Marshall, MO for WB Young and BHA in Slater, MO.  Following those jobs, Bob began working as a manager, overseeing metal work of inmates, at the Department of Corrections in Moberly, MO.  Bob retired in 2014.

Bob had a passion and love for music.  He was a talented musician and started playing in various bands at the age of 15.  Bob’s Garage Band was probably the most notable, and they provided live entertainment for various events for numerous years.  Bob had a strong work ethic and could fix just about anything.  He was always willing to lend a helping hand.  Bob enjoyed hunting and trout fishing, and loved playing golf.  He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.  When he wasn’t working or playing music, Bob stayed active within the community, volunteering for the Glasgow Fire Department and Glasgow Food Pantry.  He also served on the Ambulance Board and the Lewis Library Board.

Survivors include his wife, Cindy Oser of Glasgow, MO; three children, Todd (Amber) Oser of Raymore, MO, Holly (Blake) Rhode and Chris Oser, both of Glasgow, MO; four grandchildren, Bailey (James) Mourning, Blake Oser, and Piper and Baylor Rhode.  He is also survived by a sister, Jennifer (Ronald) Wiley of Salisbury, MO.

A visitation will be held 5-6 PM, Friday, November 1, 2024 at Friemonth-Freese Funeral Home in Glasgow.  A Celebration of Life will follow the visitation at Friemonth’s Landing from 6-8 PM.
