Carolyn Dougherty 1945 - 2016 Columbia resident, Carolyn Dougherty passed away November 17, 2016 at The Bluffs in Columbia, Missouri. She was 71 years of age. Carolyn Sue Dougherty was born September 12, 1945 at Lee Hospital in Fayette to Kenneth M. and Jane (Page) Dougherty. Carolyn graduated from Fayette Public Schools in 1963 and attended Central Methodist College before launching a lifelong career in the medical field. She was a medical transcriptionist for Boone Hospital Center for twenty years and prior to that worked for several physicians including Dr. John Somers, Dr. Gerald Orth and Dr. Trevor Watson. She was on the MS Board for a number of years, a MU Basketball season ticket holder, an excellent cook, vivacious reader and enjoyed quilting until her eyesight no longer made that possible. Family, friends and co-workers remember her infectious laughter, sharp wit, thoughtful nature and generosity of spirt. Carolyn is survived by two cousins, Charlette Carrington of Columbia and Darlene (Bob) Douglass of Georgetown, TX and lifelong friend, Ann (Howard) Ross and her husband David of Columbia as well as other close friends, co-workers and neighbors. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents. A special thankyou to the staff at The Bluffs and Hospice Compassus for their dedication throughout her journey A memorial service will be 1 PM Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at the Friemonth-Freese Funeral Home in Fayette with Rev. Robert Simpson officiating. Visitation will be a half hour before the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Fayette City Cemetery or the Fayette Swimming Pool in care of the funeral home.
