Chris Schreiber Obituary

Glasgow, MO resident Chris Schreiber, age 72, passed away peacefully at his home after a long-term illness.

Christopher Scott Schreiber was born July 12, 1951 in Towanda Township, IL.  He was one of 15 children born to the late Robert Albert and Frances Laurance (Riley) Schreiber.  He graduated from Lexington High School in Illinois with the class of 1971.  Following graduation, Chris enlisted with the U.S. Army and served as an artillery surveyor.  He proudly served his country for three years and was honorably discharged in April of 1976.  Chris then continued his education earning an Associate Degree in Applied Science from Moberly Area Community College.  On June 1, 1991, Chris married Cathy McGee at the First Baptist Church in Holiday, MO.  The couple have enjoyed over 32 years of marriage.  Chris worked in law enforcement, serving as Deputy for the Howard County Sheriff’s Department.  He also served on the Howard County Ambulance Board for a number of years.  He enjoyed volunteering at the Glasgow Food Pantry and cleaning at the First Baptist Church.  Chris was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and loved playing golf when his health rendered him able.  He enjoyed spending time with family and cherished the role of being a grandpa.

Survivors include his wife of the home, Cathy; two children, Robert (Lynn) Schreiber of Kansas City, MO and Patrick (Erica) Schreiber of Glasgow, MO; step-son, Michael (Donna) Stephenson of Huntsville, MO; eight grandchildren, Ashton, Brett, William, Andra, Gage, Devin (Jacklynn), Rick and Jill; two great-grandchildren, Daniel and Noah; 13 siblings, Riley (Vicki) Schreiber, Sara (Richard) Knepler, Mark Schreiber, Mary Schreiber, Katy Bradd, Larry (Bobbi) Schreiber, Sue (Bob) Carnes, Theresa (Dick) Dall, Leo (Terri) Schreiber, Liz (Spencer) Johansen, Tim (Lori) Schreiber, Tom Schreiber, and Patty Roark-Schreiber.  He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Patti Schreiber.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Andy Schreiber, step-son, Rick Stephenson, niece, Jessica Adreon, and a brother-in-law, Wayne Bradd.

A memorial service will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, January 27, 2024 at the Glasgow First Baptist Church, with Rev. Ryan Edward officiating.  Visitation will be an hour before the service at the church starting at 10 AM.  Inurnment with full military honors will be held privately at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville.
