David Meyer Obituary

David Eugene Meyer, 83 of Glasgow, MO passed away on April 1st, 2026, at the Harry S. Truman Veterans Administration Hospital in Columbia, MO.


David was born on October 5th, 1942, in Boonville, MO to Henry and Lucille Meyer.  David grew up in Glasgow, MO.  He worked at the grocery store, the Post Office and Holtwick Plumbing prior to joining the United States Air Force in 1960 where he proudly served at Lackland Air Force Base, Edwards Air Force Base, and UTAPO Airfield in Thailand in the Vietnam war.  Upon finishing his military service, he briefly framed houses in Colorado prior to returning to Glasgow where he was married at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church to Marilyn Oser on April 4th, 1970.  David followed in his fathers’ footsteps with a thirty-seven-year career with the United States Corps of Engineers beginning his career on the survey crew surveying the Missouri river and finished as an Environmental Engineering Specialist.  Upon retirement from the Corps of Engineers’, he worked briefly for the co-op and several years as a carpenter.


David was a lifelong parishioner of St. Mary’s Church.  Throughout his life he enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening with friends and family; enjoyed refinishing antique furniture and was known for his homemade wines.


David was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Lucille Meyer, siblings Johnny Meyer, Bernard (Jerry) Meyer, Mary Parish and Tommy Meyer.


David is survived by his wife Marilyn to whom he would have been married to for fifty-six years on April 4th, a son Michael Meyer and wife Emilie of Kansas City, a daughter Julie Strodtman and husband Kyle of Glasgow, MO, six grandchildren Phina Meyer of Springfield, MO, Sabrina Strodtman of Green Ridge, MO, David Meyer of Kansas City, MO, Carissa, Hailey and Stella Strodtman all of Glasgow, MO.


The family will receive friends and family from 9:00am to 11:00am with a prayer service and Rosary being prayed at 8:30am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 421 3rd Street, Glasgow, MO.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am at the Church.  Inurnment will follow at the Washington Cemetery.


The family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Pleasant Green Cemetery, Washington Cemetery or Catholic Memorial Masses for David.
