Glasgow, MO resident, Don Freese, age 84, passed away at Glasgow Gardens on November 4, 2023.
Donald William Freese was born September 20, 1939 in Chariton Co., MO. He was a son to the late Martin W. and Esther D. (Weiseman) Freese. He graduated from Keytesville High School with the class of 1957. Following graduation, he farmed with his father and served for a short time in the Army National Guard. Don married the love of his life (his angel), Helen Monnig, at the Marian Hill Catholic Church north of Glasgow in 1962. Together, the couple has enjoyed over 61 years of marriage. Along with his wife, Helen, Don was an active member of St. Mary Church in Glasgow.
Don worked several years in the construction and sheet metal industries before starting his own business, Freese Construction. For over 35 years he built and renovated numerous homes in Glasgow and the surrounding areas. Don was an innovative builder and an accomplished woodworker. He was especially skilled with the wood lathe and many family and friends hold pieces he made especially for them. Don was an avid golfer and lost a lot of balls playing with his friends at the Fayette golf course. He always had a smile and never ran from a conversation. But most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, including his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of the home, Helen; three children, Pam (Mark) Welker of Kansas City, MO, Randy (Suzanne) Freese of Kansas City, MO, and Rhonda (Dale) Jones of Davidson, NC; five grandchildren, Allie (Ryan) Bax, Adam Freese, Sydnie Freese, Maddie Jones, and Sophie Welker; great-grandson, Elijah Donald Bax; two brothers-in-law, Richard Cook and Billy Joe Drummond; and two sisters-in-law, Linda Drummond, and Cindy Monnig.
