Donald Yung Obituary

Roanoke, MO resident, Donald Yung, 82, passed away peacefully at his home on March 13, 2023.

Donald Edward Yung, affectionately known as “Fender Bender” or “Candyman,” was born November 21, 1940 in Salisbury, MO.  He was one of eight children born to the late Edward Henry and Clara Mae (Abeln) Yung.  Don attended and graduated from St. Joseph High School with the class of 1958.  On November 17, 1976, Don married the love of his life, Vickie Ware, in Moberly, MO.  Don and Vickie have enjoyed over 46 years together.  Don spent his entire career working as an auto body repair man.  From 1962-1972, he worked for Jackson Motors in Salisbury.  In ’72, he started working for A.B. Kelly Motors in Moberly and then worked for Gibbs Auto.  In 1980 Don started his own auto body repair shop where he continued to work until 2021.  Don was known for his work ethic and a true love for Ford automobiles.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trips to the boat, and spending time with his grandchildren.  Don was also one of the founding members of the Mid-MO Cruisers car club organization.

Survivors include his wife of the home, Vickie Yung; five children, Donna Engle, of Warrenton, MO, Penny McCurry, of Brunswick, MO, Paul (Megan) Yung, of Mendon, MO, Robyn (Chris) Bennett, of Roach, MO, Cody (Rebecca) Yung, of Armstrong, MO; 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; six siblings, Carol Overstreet, of Springfield, MO, Jane Ann (John) Covell, of Laurie, MO, Barbara (Mike) Kincaid, of Gravois Mills, MO, Jr. (Carol) Yung, of Brunswick, MO, Clara (Mike) Fox, of Salisbury, MO, and Loretta Yung, of Salisbury, MO.  In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Patricia Yung, a granddaughter, Alexandrea Nation and a brother, Tom Yung.

Visitation for Mr. Yung will be 9 – 11:30 AM, Saturday, March 18, 2023 at Friemonth-Freese Funeral Home in Glasgow.  Family and friends will share remembrances from 11:30 AM – 12 PM at the funeral home.  Inurnment will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
