Dorothy Clements Obituary

Former Glasgow and long time Boonville resident, Dorothy Jean (Watts) Clements died on March 24, 2023 at Riverdell Care Center, Boonville.

Dorothy was born on September 25, 1927 in Franklin, Missouri.  She was the seventh of nine children born to John Engram and Naomi (Quinley) Watts.

Dorothy attended school at Petersburg and graduated from Glasgow High School, class of 1945.

On January 23, 1946, Dorothy married Clarence D. (Ike) Clements in Atchison, Kansas.  They enjoyed 42 years of marriage until his death on November 18, 1988.

Dorothy held a number of jobs over the years including Montgomery Ward in Kansas City, National Garment in Fayette, Kellwood in Glasgow and she served as housekeeper and cook for Father Richard Hunkins at St. Mary Rectory.

Before losing her vision due to macular degeneration, she was able to enjoy trips to Gulf Shores, Colorado, New York City and Niagara Falls.  Dorothy enjoyed quilting, cooking and canning, and working crossword puzzles.  She loved to sing and entertained the staff at Riverdell Care Center with her unique songs.  Dorothy enjoyed listening to the music of Glen Miller, Ray Price, Loretta Lynn and the Bee Gees. 

Survivors include her three children:  Carol Ethington of Boonville, David (Cheryl) Clements of Armstrong and Shara (Rick) Meyer of Boonville.  She is survived by seven grandchildren:  Jeff (Jan) Harris of Smithville, Michelle Kibler and fiancé Rob Cervant of Oak Grove, Bryon (Aly) Ethington of Blue Ridge, GA, Koby (Heidi) Clements of Columbia, Kelton (Karissa) Clements of Fayette, Kyra (Dustyn) Yung of Columbia and Tyler (Julie) Meyer of Columbia.  Dorothy is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren: Brenden and Danner Yach, Haley Carpenter, Chasen, Hudson, Avi and Zoe Ethington, Brady, Bowen, Koda and Indie Clements; a sister-in-law Margaret Watts of Fayette and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by an infant son Carl Ross and great-granddaughter Reagen Lee Ethington; five sisters: Nora Estelle Thomas, Alma Genevieve Waterfield, Martha Satterwhite, Naomi Bernice Woods and Clara Mae Lynn and three brothers: Leslie Paul Watts, John (Sonny) Watts and Carl (Ben) Watts.

Visitation will be 5-7 PM, Monday, March 27, 2023 at Friemonth-Freese Funeral Home in Glasgow.  Funeral will be 10 AM, Tuesday, March 28 at the funeral home, with Kevin Oeth officiating.  Interment will follow the service at Boonesboro Cemetery.
