Ella Marie Wilson

Glasgow resident, Ella Marie Wilson, age 90, passed away peacefully at Glasgow Gardens February 7, 2023.

Ella Marie Wilson was born in Glasgow on August 20, 1932.  She was one of six children born to the late Henry and Ella Mary (Aholt) Monnig.  She attended school at St. Mary Catholic School.  On April 27, 1957, Ella Marie married the love of her life, Robert Lee “Bob” Wilson, Jr.  Together, the couple enjoyed over 55 years of marriage, until Bob’s death on February 15, 2013.  Ella Marie held several jobs throughout her career including Dun Hill Shirt Factory, Colonial Manor (Glasgow Gardens) and National Garment Factory.  Ella Marie primarily worked as a daycare provider, watching and nurturing numerous children.  She loved to quilt, embroider and crochet.  She also enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.  Ella Marie was a devout and active member of St. Mary Church, where she held memberships with the D of I and CCW.  She was also active with the American Legion Auxiliary.

Survivors include her five daughters, Becky (Joe) Thompson of Glasgow, Debby (Jay) Minor of Gilliam, MO, Cindy (Mark) Hall of Warrenton, MO, Sherry (Sonny) Shive of Glasgow, and Tammy (Tommy) Yung of Glasgow; 17 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren on the way.  She is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Shirley Monnig of Glasgow and Mary Wilson of Marshall, MO.  In addition to her husband and parents, Ella Marie was preceded in death by five brothers, Francis, Jerome, Walter, Wilford and Leonard.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 AM, Saturday, February 11, 2023 at St. Mary Church in Glasgow, with Fr. Joshua Duncan officiating.  Visitation will be an hour before the service starting at 10 AM, with a Rosary being held at 9:30 AM, both at St. Mary Church.  Interment will be in Washington Cemetery in Glasgow.
