Former Glasgow resident, Evelyn Swanegan, age 81, passed away at University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia on July 23, 2024.

Evelyn Van Swanegan was born December 3, 1942 in Howard County, MO.  She was a daughter to the late John and Nellie (Camp) Anderson.  Evelyn attended the Evans School in Glasgow and graduated from Glasgow High School with the class of 1960.  On September 13, 1962, Evelyn married Thaddeus “Ted” Swanegan in Kansas City, MO.  The couple enjoyed nearly 40 years of marriage.  Ted preceded her death on August 3, 2001.  Before an auto accident rendered her unable, Evelyn worked stints as a developmental assistant for the Marshall Rehabilitation Center and worked at Kellwood factory in Glasgow.  She enjoyed trips to the boat, shopping, listening to sporting events on the radio and decorating for the holidays.

Survivors include her daughter, Tanis (Willie) Clay of Armstrong, MO; niece, Debbie (Keith) Tatum of Glasgow, MO; great-nephew, Aaron (Ambrosia) Mozee of Columbia, MO and great-niece, Tiara Patrick of Boonville, MO.  She is also survived by “her girls,” Amanda (Terry) Gibson of New Franklin, MO and Amber Weber of Boonville, MO.  In addition to her husband and parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by seven siblings, Warren, Fred and Elmer Mozee, Clarence and J.C. Anderson, and Linda and Lou Anderson.

Visitation will be 10-10:45 AM, Saturday, July 27, 2024 at Friemonth-Freese Funeral Home in Glasgow.  Graveside service will follow the visitation at 11 AM at Lincoln Cemetery in Glasgow, with Rev. Sandra Enyard officiating.
