Gary Poland

Former Branson, MO resident, Rev. Gary Poland, age 64, passed away April 19, 2023, at University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia.

Gary Allen Poland was born September 12, 1958 in Mexico, MO, a son to the late Charles G. and Lucy (Femmer) Poland.  On July 10, 1993, Gary married Karen L. Sanders in Kansas City, MO.  The couple enjoyed over 28 years of marriage together.  Karen preceded Gary in death on February 1, 2022.  Gary spent his professional career working as a security guard for multiple companies including Wells Fargo and RJS.  Gary loved traveling, playing drums, television trivia, drawing and doing puzzles.  Gary especially treasured his time in Branson with his wife and going to the shows.  He was a selfless and caring person, fostering, raising and taking care of children that weren’t his own. 

Survivors include his daughter, Angelica Wright of Branson, MO; five step-children, Tonia Baty of Kansas City, MO, Cherlyn Wright of Lebanon, MO, Carmen (Jared) Forbes of Glasgow, MO, Deanna (Donald) Glenn of Louisiana, and Jamie (Patrick) Logan of Independence, MO; two special grandchildren he helped raise, Steven Williams and Cherokee Campbell; 15 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; and a nephew, Brian (Bonnie) Carter.  In addition to his wife and parents, Gary was preceded in death by two siblings, Diane and Kenneth, and a step-brother, Kenny.  

A memorial service celebrating the life of Mr. Poland will be 11:30 AM, Saturday, May 6, 2023 at Richland Christian Church, south of Glasgow, MO, with Rev. Sandra Enyard officiating.
