Genevieve J. Meyer passed away at The Lodge in Fayette, MO on March 26, 2017. She was 95 years of age. Margaret Genevieve Meyer was born in Aholt, MO on December 19, 1921, the daughter of George and Lenora (Taylor) Nolke. Genevieve married Walter Johanning in 1950, and he preceded her in death the following year. She later married Edward J. Meyer on September 20, 1958. Edward preceded her in death February 23, 1998. Genevieve was a hard worker. She raised chickens and maintained the home and farm. Genevieve enjoyed gardening, embroidering, and making pies for her family's enjoyment. She is survived by her son, Walter Leo (Dogg) and Lynn Meyer of Glasgow; three daughters, Jean and Ronnie Lessly of Fayette, Anna Rose and Larry Vukadin of Armstrong, and Teresa and Dennis Gerlt of Fayette; sister-in-law, Dorothy Meyer of Glasgow; 11 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husbands, Genevieve was preceded in death by three brothers, Henry, Gene, and Edgar Nolke, and one sister, Marie Colson. A funeral service for Mrs. Meyer will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at Friemonth-Freese Funeral Home in Glasgow. Visitation will be 9-11 a.m., two hours before the service. Burial will be held following the funeral at Washington Cemetery in Glasgow. Memorial contributions are suggested to Public Schools Library Fund, in care of the funeral home.
