Glasgow resident, George Flaspohler died peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family, on
August 25, 2023.
George Wallace Flaspohler was born April 12, 1940 in rural Glasgow, MO, a son to the late Orville J. and
Helen E. (Hubbard) Flaspohler. George graduated from Glasgow High School with the class of 1958. On
September 15, 1962, George married the love of his life, Betty Hellebusch, at St. Mary Church in
Glasgow. The couple was just shy of celebrating their 61st wedding anniversary.
George farmed and worked as a heavy equipment operator with Glasgow Rock Quarries for nearly 20
years. He then took a job with Werner Enterprises as a truck driver where he worked an additional 30
years. The trucking business led to him and Betty traveling all across the United States, including Mexico
and Canada. It may have been an occupation, but it was something George and Betty loved doing
together. George was a jack of all trades and could fix almost anything. He was an excellent carpenter
and an accomplished mechanic. He loved watching westerns, spending time with his grandchildren and
his faithful companion, Toby.
Survivors include his wife of the home, Betty Flaspohler; two sons, Mark (Dana) Flaspohler of Hartsburg,
MO and Michael Flaspohler of Glasgow, MO; five grandchildren, Kale Flaspohler, Kaylyn (Clayton)
Baumgartner, Evan Flaspohler, Ashton Flaspohler and Gracyn Flaspohler; four siblings, Barbara Peterson
of Columbia, MO, Charlotte Hellebusch of Columbia, MO, John (Dorothy) Flaspohler of Lake St. Louis, MO
and Charles (Savanah) Flaspohler of Lacey, WA. In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death
by his brother, Billy Flaspohler.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 AM, Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Glasgow,
with Fr. Joshua Duncan officiating. Visitation will be an hour prior to the service starting at 9 AM at the
church. Interment will follow the service at Washington Cemetery in Glasgow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to St. Mary School or St Jude Children’s Hospital.
Final arrangements are under the direction of Friemonth-Freese Funeral Service of Glasgow.
