James "Jimmie" Polson Obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of James Douglas Polson, or ‘Jimmie Doug’ as he was affectionately called, on January 4, 2025, in his hometown of Fayette, Missouri. He was born in Fayette August 5, 1961, to Sandra Autrey (nee Coble) and the late Hubert Polson, Jr., who preceded him in death in 2010.
Jimmie was a 1979 graduate of Fayette High School, where he gained the skills to become an expert welder and heavy equipment operator. He went on to work for more than 40 years for local city, county and state transportation and public works departments.
Jimmie was a beloved friend, cousin, brother, son, father and grandfather. He loved socializing, laughing, singing and listening to music, and watching sports, especially those played by his children and the Kansas City Chiefs.
Jimmie had a gift for making people laugh, sometimes until they cried. When help or companionship was needed, whether for his family, friends, or community, Jimmie would be there. His warmth and ornery demeanor will be deeply missed by all who love him.
Jimmie is survived by his mother Sandra Autrey; children Jamilee Polson Lacy (Stephen Lacy), Kathryn ‘K.D.’ Polson Bartelt (Daniel Bartelt), Charles Lucas ‘Luke’ Polson, and Thomas ‘Cale’ Polson; grandchildren Drew and Shepard Bartelt; siblings Charles ‘Charlie’ Polson, Steven Autrey, Susan ‘Micki’ Polson, Chris Polson, and Troy Polson; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and new and old friends.
A visitation will be held from 12-2 PM on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at Friemonth-Freese Funeral Home in Fayette, followed by a Celebration of Life from 2:30-4:30 PM at The Country Club in Fayette.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Fayette Athletics Boosters, P.O. Box 216, Fayette, Mo. 65248.
