Fayette resident, Jane Kauffman, age 94, passed away at the Lodge on June 17, 2024.

Jane Kathleen Kauffman was born July 26, 1929 in Pueblo, CO.  She was one of three daughters born to the late Theodore and Julia M. (Matonock) Bell.  Jane graduated from high school in Rye, CO.  She furthered her education and attended business school in Colorado Springs, CO.  On October 16, 1948, Jane married the love of her life, Wayne Earl Kauffman, Sr.  The couple enjoyed nearly 46 years of marriage together.  Wayne, Sr. preceded her in death on October 2, 1994.  Jane cherished the role of being a homemaker and raising her five children.  When she was able, Jane enjoyed gardening and playing golf.  She was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fayette.

Survivors include her five children, Judith Richardson, Karen Meyerding, Wayne Kauffman, Jr., Danny Kauffman, and Cynthia Lewis; 16 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Marilyn Hustede and Mildred Graham.

A memorial service honoring the life of Mrs. Kauffman will be 11 AM, Friday, July 26, 2024, at Friemonth-Freese Funeral Home in Fayette, with Fr. Joshua Duncan officiating.  Inurnment will follow the service at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Fayette.
