Jim Ferguson Obituary

Lifelong Glasgow, MO resident and farmer, Jim Ferguson, age 86, passed away peacefully at his home on January 14, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.

James Walker Ferguson, Jr. was born May 11, 1937 in Glasgow, MO.  He was one of four children born to the late James Walker and Edwina Ruth (Lewis) Ferguson, Sr.  Jim attended and graduated from Glasgow High School with the class of 1955.  Following graduation, Jim enlisted with the U.S. Air Force and proudly served his country for four years.  Jim was honorably discharged in July of 1960.  While stationed in Germany during his time of service, Jim met the love of his life, Heide Johanna Krautwig.  On February 27, 1960, Jim and Heide were married in Braubach, Germany.  The couple shared two children and enjoyed nearly 57 years of marriage.  Heide preceded Jim in death on February 19, 2017. 

Jim had a very strong work ethic.  He farmed his entire life, raised livestock and worked as a seed dealer.  Jim enjoyed traveling and he loved raising and riding horses.  He also enjoyed socializing with friends at the local restaurants.  Jim will be remembered for his kindness and generosity.  He was a man of great integrity and honor, and loved his family dearly.  Jim was a former member of the Glasgow Lions Club and Glasgow Legion Post 211, and he was a devout and active member of the Glasgow United Methodist Church.  He was a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include his two children, Connie (Mark) Tebbe and Steve (Sheila) Ferguson, both of Glasgow, MO; six grandchildren, Jayme Dinter, Tyler (Stacy Drones) Tebbe, Haley (Nolan) Townsend, Heather (Zach) Moore, Heidy (Shay) Jones and Molly (Jesse) Espenschied; five great-grandchildren, August and Bowie Dinter, Poppy Espenschied, Elisa Townsend and Walker Jones; and two siblings, Mary Routh of Lexington, MO and Martha Tebbe of Fayette, MO.  In addition to his wife and parents, Jim was preceded in death by a sister, Bonnie Bullock; three brothers-in law: Jack Bullock, Bob Routh, and Jerome Tebbe; and grandson-in-law, Jonathan Dinter.

Visitation will be 9-11 AM, Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at Friemonth-Freese Funeral Home in Glasgow.  Funeral service will follow the visitation at 11 AM at the funeral home, with Rev. Karen Alden officiating.  Interment with full military honors will be held at Lewis Cemetery.
