Lifelong Fayette, MO resident, John Sulltrop, passed away at the age of 71 on May 6, 2025, at Glasgow Gardens, following a battle with cancer.

John Meredith Sulltrop, affectionately known as “Johnny” to his friends and family, was born in Fayette on November 30, 1953.  He was a son to the late Leroy John and Mary Margaret (Ball) Sulltrop.  He graduated from Fayette High School with the class of 1972.  Johnny held numerous jobs throughout his career.  He was a welder and fabricator by trade, doing multiple side jobs throughout the years.  He held jobs for the Fayette Street Dept., City Quarry in Columbia, and most recently worked for Caterpillar in Boonville.  For approximately 25 years, Johnny worked in the coal mining industry for Universal Coal and Yates Energy.  On November 10, 1994, he married Linda Wilkerson in Marshall, MO, and the couple have enjoyed over 30 years together.

Johnny had a passion for racing and motorsports.  He was also an avid gun collector and enjoyed time on the range doing target practice.  These hobbies were passed on to his son, Chad.  John and Chad enjoyed time spent together on the range or engaged in any kind of racing or motorsport.

Survivors include his wife of the home, Linda Sulltrop; two grandchildren, Gage and Kadence Sulltrop, of Fayette; brother, Gary (Patricia) Sulltrop of Fayette; daughter-in-law, Amber (Troy) Overfelt of Fayette; and a sister-in-law, Carol Sulltrop of Columbia, MO.  Johnny is also survived by Linda’s brother, LeRoy (Jackie) Wilkerson and numerous nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, Johnny was preceded in death by his son, Chad Sulltrop; brother, Jack Sulltrop; infant sister, Sharon Sulltrop; and a half-brother, Billy Overstreet.

A funeral service honoring the life of Mr. Sulltrop will be 12 PM, Monday, May 12, 2025, at Faith Family Church in Fayette, with Pastor Jamie Page officiating.  Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service at the church, starting at 10 AM.  Interment will follow the services at Walnut Ridge Cemetery.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Walnut Ridge Cemetery.  Final arrangements are under the direction of Friemonth-Freese Funeral Service of Fayette.
