Former Glasgow resident, Karen Gebhardt, age 69, passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home in Moberly, MO, on April 27, 2024, after a seven year-long battle with cancer.   Karen J. Gebhardt was born in Boonville, MO on December 28, 1954.  She was a daughter to the late Francis and Doris (Korte) Borges.  Karen graduated from Glasgow High School with the class of 1972.  On March 17, 1972, she married the love of her life, Marvin Duane Gebhardt at the Glasgow United Methodist Church.  After four children and 40 years of marriage, Duane preceded her in death on January 7, 2013.

Karen was strong willed and stubborn at times, but she also had an enormous heart and wonderful sense of humor.  She was generous, loyal, and brave.  Between raising her four children and spending time with her beloved grandchildren, she had a short career in fabric manufacturing as a seamstress. Karen loved traveling, talking politics and her love for history was like non-other.  She will be remembered for all the heart she shared with her friends and family. She truly loved each of them- and if you knew her, you knew it.  When her time came, she carried herself with dignity, strength, and full of love for those who went before her.  She will be missed dearly.

Survivors include her four children, Brennan (Tammra) Gebhardt of Sandy, UT, Jordan (Savannah) Gebhardt of Slater, MO, Timothy Gebhardt of Moberly, MO and Paige (Chris) Sanders of Armstrong, MO; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; four siblings, Debbie (Paul) Fuemmeler of Armstrong, MO, Paula (Kenneth) Wells of Armstrong, MO, Alan (Shelly) Borges of Moberly, MO and Jerry (Angie) of Wimberly, TX.  In addition to her husband and parents, Karen was preceded in death by two siblings, Brian Borges and Pam Pollard.   

Following Karen’s final wishes, there will be no public services.  A private celebration of life with close friends and family will be held at a later date.   

Memorial contributions are suggested to Asbury Cemetery or Cancer Research.  Final arrangements are under the direction of Friemonth-Freese Funeral Service of Glasgow.
