Keith Getz

Columbia resident, Keith Getz, age 67, passed away at University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia on February 28, 2023.

Keith Harmon Getz was born in Moberly, MO on November 7, 1955, a son to the late William Roland and Hannah Louise (Harmon) Getz.  Keith graduated from Glasgow High School with the class of 1974.  In the summer of 1983, Keith enlisted in the U.S. Navy.  He was stationed aboard the USS Kitty Hawk supercarrier, serving as a steam propulsion maintenance supervisor.  After six years of service, Keith was honorably discharged on May 31, 1989.  It was while he was in the service, Keith met the love of his life, Kathleen (Engen) Getz.  They married in San Diego, CA on December 21, 1986 and enjoyed over 31 years together as a couple.  Kathleen preceded him in death May 14, 2018.  Keith spent his professional career as an operator/technician for the University of Missouri power plant.  He started working there in 1991 and retired in 2017.  Keith was an avid gun collector and enthusiast, and was a proud member of the NRA.

Keith is survived by his beloved daughter, Casey Getz, of Glasgow, MO.

Graveside Military Honors, saluting Keith Getz, will be held 2 PM, Saturday, March 25, 2023 at Washington Cemetery in Glasgow, MO.

Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.  Final arrangements are under the direction of Friemonth-Freese Funeral Service of Glasgow.
