Kenneth Yaeger Obituary

Lifelong Howard County, MO resident and farmer, Kenny Yaeger, 90, passed away peacefully October 27, 2025, at Glasgow Gardens.

Kenneth Dale Yaeger was born in Howard County, MO on March 16, 1935, a son to the late John Lewis and Margaret Freda (Schmidt) Yaeger.  Kenny graduated from Fayette High School with the class of 1952.  On November 2, 1957, Kenny married the love of his life, Glenda Sue Fisher, at Fayette First Christian Church.  Kenny and Sue were six days shy of celebrating their 68th wedding anniversary.  The couple share three children, 10 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

Kenny's life was centered around his faith, his family, and hard work.  Being a lifelong farmer comes with its shares of joys and challenges, and Kenny loved it, and lived it.  On top of being a proud steward of the land, Kenny stayed involved within the community, holding memberships and serving on various boards in different capacities.  He served on the Howard Electric Board, Glasgow Co-op Board, Howard County Pork Producers, Howard County Cattlemen, Howard County Fire Protection #3, ASC Committee, and was a member of the Fayette Optimist Club.  In 1980, Kenny was instrumental in forming and building Howard County Fire Station #3, where he served as captain for 17 years.  This was a project that was very near and dear to Kenny’s heart.  In the early 90’s, Kenny received special recognition and thank you awards from the Fayette Optimist Club for his years of dedicated service.  Kenny loved following local sports, rarely missing St. Louis Cardinals and Kansas City Chiefs games.  He always showed compassion. Kenny had an unwavering ability and willingness to help those in need.  He was a devout Christian and an active member at Faith Family Church in Fayette.  In their free time, Kenny and Sue loved to go dancing every Saturday night.

Survivors include his wife, Sue Yaeger, of Fayette, MO; three children, Kevin (Sharon) Yaeger of Midway, MO, Susan (Bill) Berberich of Chesterfield, MO and Karlin (Nancy) Yaeger of Rocheport, MO; 10 grandchildren, Mindy (Ryan) Carney, Jaclyn Suzanne (Kyle) Gavin, Chris (Kate) Yaeger, Andy (Katie) Schroeder, Matthew (Lexi) Schroeder, Nikki Berberich, Bill (Carley) Berberich, Madi (Ryan) Moll, Powell Yaeger and Sidney Yaeger; eight great-grandchildren, Emmie, Ashton, Scarlett, Vivian, Josie, Will, Liam and Camille.  In addition to his parents, Kenny was preceded in death by three siblings, Margaret Yaeger, Jessie Moore, and John R. Yaeger.

A memorial service honoring the life of Kenny Yaeger will be held 11 AM, Saturday, November 29th, 2025, at Faith Family Church in Fayette, with Pastor Jamie Page officiating.  Visitation will be held an hour prior to the service, at the church, starting at 10 AM.  Inurnment will be held privately at the convenience of the family, at Myers Chapel Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Myers Chapel or Howard County Fire Station #3, c/o Friemonth-Freese Funeral Service, 174 Hwy. 5 & 240 N., Fayette, MO 65248.  Online condolences may be shared at friemonthfreesefuneralservice.com.
