Kenneth "Kenny" Blakely Obituary

Kenneth Estill "Kenny" Blakely, 93, of Fayette, MO passed away on May 30, 2026.

Kenny was born on August 20, 1932, in Slater, Missouri, to Samuel G. and Anna Myrle (Richardson) Blakely. He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Bonnie Lee Werner, on May 17, 1959. Together they built a loving family and shared 67 years of marriage.

Kenny was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel G. and Anna Myrle Blakely, and his brother, Sammie Francis Blakely.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Bonnie Blakely; his two daughters, Sheri (Fred) Eaton and Lori (Jeff) Strodtman; five grandchildren, Leah (Todd) Flaspohler, Lacey (Ben) Gladden, Victoria (Donny Rumsby) Eaton, Cortney (John) Pettit, and Joe (Kayla) Strodtman; and eight great-grandchildren, Jillian and Christopher Flaspohler, Clay and Canaan Gladden, Blakely and Katie Pettit, and Harper and Oliver Strodtman.

Kenny proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956. During his service, he spent 18 months stationed in Japan and attained the rank of Sergeant before being discharged.

Following his military service, Kenny began a career with Southwestern Bell in 1956. Through hard work and dedication, he enjoyed a successful career that spanned nearly four decades before retiring in 1995.

Kenny had a lifelong love of the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was an enthusiastic sports fan and participant who loved playing and watching nearly every sport, especially baseball, golf, and tennis. Some of his happiest moments were spent attending his family's special events, playing ping pong in the basement with his grandchildren, sharing family dinners, taking rides with Bonnie, enjoying coffee with friends at DJ's, and cheering on athletes at Central Methodist University sporting events.

A man deeply committed to his community, Kenny dedicated countless hours to serving others. He volunteered with the local Food Pantry and served on both the Armstrong and Fayette School Boards. He was also a devoted member of the Fayette Golf Course, where he served in many capacities over the years and was especially passionate about supporting and encouraging youth golfers in Fayette. In recognition of his many contributions and years of service, he was honored as Fayette Citizen of the Year in 2008.

Kenny was a faithful member of the Fayette First Christian Church and lived a life grounded in faith, service, and kindness. More than any accomplishment or recognition, Kenny's greatest passion was his family. He treasured every opportunity to spend time with those he loved and took immense pride in their lives and accomplishments.

To his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, he was simply "Papa." He was their biggest supporter, greatest fan, trusted advisor, and constant source of love. Whether cheering from the sidelines, sharing stories around the dinner table, playing ping pong in the basement, or simply spending time together, Papa made every moment special. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren knew without question how deeply they were loved, and they will forever cherish the memories and lessons he shared with them.

Kenny will be remembered for his unwavering devotion to his family, his generous spirit, his commitment to his community, and the example he set through a life well lived. His legacy will continue in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
