Rural Fayette, MO resident, Kristine Best, age 74, passed away at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, MO on November 28, 2022.

Kristine Elizabeth Anderson Best was born October 29, 1948 in St. Joseph, MO. She was one of three children born to the late Roy and Martha (Colton) Anderson. Kristine attended her first three years of high school in Marshall, MO. She then transferred to Glasgow High School for her senior year, where she graduated with the class of 1966. Kristine went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in education from Central Methodist University in Fayette, MO. She began her lengthy teaching career at St. Mary’s in Glasgow. She later had teaching stints at Clark and Hardeman. Her final teaching years were at Glasgow Public Schools, where she enjoyed teaching elementary art and the gifted program. Kristine married Tom Best in Glasgow, MO on April 27, 1985. Together, they have enjoyed over 37 years of marriage. Kristine was an avid reader and an excellent cook. She was also very gifted in the arts, especially music. She regularly sang for weddings and was a member of a local band. She also adored the wild raccoons that visited her back door. More than anything else, Kristine loved her family and hosting family gatherings. She was a loving and dedicated caregiver, spouse, mother, step-mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.

She is survived by her husband Tom Best, of the home; daughter, Amanda (Jon) Haes of Glasgow, MO; step-children, Gwendolyn (Matthew Smith) DeSilva of Arvada, CO and Michael (Cathy) Best of Mesa, AZ; five grandchildren, Kenneth, Gabriel, Mary, Michael, and Brian; sister, Elouise (David) Kallmeyer of Glasgow, MO. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. In addition to her parents, Kristine was preceded in death by her brother, Steven Anderson.

A funeral service honoring Mrs. Best’s life will be 12 p.m., Friday, December 2, 2022 at Friemonth-Freese Funeral Home in Glasgow, with Rev. Sandra Enyard officiating. Visitation will be held an hour before the service starting at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at Washington Cemetery in Glasgow.
