Larry Ray Prentzler Obituary

Glasgow, MO resident, Larry Prentzler, age 79, passed away at the Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans’ Hospital in Columbia, MO on December 27, 2023, following a short battle with cancer.

Larry Ray Prentzler was born November 25, 1944 in Forest Green, MO.  He was one of seven children born to the late John William and Cora Mae (Kaneer) Prentzler.  He graduated from Glasgow High School with the class of 1962.  In August of 1965, Larry was drafted and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army.  He was stationed in Germany where he served as a helicopter mechanic during the Vietnam War.  Larry earned the National Defense Service Medal and was honorably discharged on August 10, 1971.  On June 14, 1969, Larry married the love of his life, Linda Maupin, at Salem Lutheran Church in Forest Green.  Together, the couple have enjoyed over 54 years of marriage.  Larry worked for National Garment Factory in Fayette for 35 years.  He then went on to work several more years and eventually retired from the Missouri Dept. of Transportation.  Larry will be remembered for his service to his country, his work ethic and the love he had for his family.  He enjoyed being outdoors bow hunting, fishing and farming.  He especially enjoyed following and watching his grandchildren’s sporting events.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Prentzler, of the home; two children, Bryan (Tina) Prentzler of Glasgow, MO and Lisa “Bobbi” (Jeff) Howard of Salisbury, MO; five grandchildren, Shelby (Zach) Pate, Brandon, Nathan and Aly Prentzler, and Jaden Howard; one great-granddaughter, Hattie Marie Pate; two step-grandsons, Kenneth and Justin Howard; and two siblings, Ronnie Prentzler of Moberly, MO and Letha (Greg) Pullman of Sidney, IA.  In addition to his parents, Larry Ray was preceded in death by four siblings, Ervin, Kenneth and Paul Prentzler, and Mary “Sissy” Collier.

Visitation will be 10-11 AM, Saturday, December 30, 2023 at Friemonth-Freese Funeral Home in Glasgow.  A memorial service will follow at 11 AM, with Pastor Noah Burgdorf officiating.  Full Military Honors will be held at the funeral home following the service.  Inurnment will be held privately at a later date at Salem Lutheran Cemetery in Forest Green.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Salem Lutheran Church, c/o Friemonth-Freese Funeral Service of Glasgow.
