Laura Bishop 1947 - 2014 Rural New Franklin resident, Laura Bishop passed away at her home on June 18, 2014. She was 67 years of age. Laura Jane Bishop was born on March 21, 1947 in Boonville, MO to Jessie F. and Dorothy A. (Freleigh) Wyatt. She graduated from New Franklin High School in 1966. On February 4, 1967, she married Jerry Bishop in Fayette, MO. Mrs. Bishop had worked at National Garment Factory in Fayette, Toastmaster in Boonville and Square D in Columbia. She enjoyed raising pigs and rabbits, cooking, sewing, playing cards and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a member of the New Franklin First Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband Jerry; three daughters, LeeAndra Gehringer of Rocheport, Christina Cox of Columbia and Sarah Anjanette Bishop of New Franklin; one son, Paul Wade Bishop of New Franklin; two brothers, Jeffrey Wyatt of New Franklin and Charles Wyatt of Rocheport; one sister, Alice Klein of Clinton; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Aside from her parents, Laura was preceded in death by one brother, James Wyatt and one step-daughter, Wanda M. Bishop. Services for Mrs. Bishop will be 11 am, Monday, June 23, 2014 at Sulphur Springs Baptist Church rural New Franklin with Rev. Ken Stacey officiating. Visitation will take place one hour before the service. Burial will follow the service at Sulphur Springs Cemetery.
