Linda Kay Nabors Obituary

Rural Fayette, MO resident, Linda Kay Nabors, age 68, passed away peacefully at her home on April 5, 2025, surrounded by her kids and husband, following a courageous yearlong battle with cancer.

Linda Kay Nabors was born December 7, 1956 in Fayette, MO.  She was one of five children born to the late Emil A. and Lois V. (Smith) Johnmeyer.  She graduated from Fayette High School with the class of 1974.  On April 2, 1977, she married Dewey C. Wells, Sr. and under this union shared two children, Dakota and Cheyenne.  Dewey, Sr. preceded them in death, passing away on May 20, 2005.  Linda Kay spent her career working in underwriting services in varying roles for State Farm Insurance.  She retired from State Farm in April of 2019 after 40 great years.  On August 28, 2021, Linda Kay married Gary Nabors and cherished the time they were able to spend together as a couple.

Linda Kay was a devout and active member of Faith Family Church where she worked to disciple others and share the love of Jesus. She loved riding horses, spending time with her children and grandchildren on the farm, gardening, baking, canning and trying new recipes - much to the delight of her husband Gary.

Survivors include her husband, Gary Nabors, of the home; two children, Dakota (Mackenzie) Wells and Cheyenne (Andy) Cook, both of Fayette, MO; seven grandchildren, Benjamin, Maddox and Timber Wells, and Beckett, Murphy, Maria, and Luna Cook; two siblings, Mary Louise Golob of Fayette, MO and Bob “Buck” (Debbie) Johnmeyer of New Bloomfield, MO.  In addition to her first husband and parents, Linda Kay was preceded in death by her brother, Bill Johnmeyer, and sister, Virginia “Snookie” Taylor.

A funeral service honoring the life of Linda Kay will be 10 AM, Friday, April 11, 2025 at Faith Family Church in Fayette, with Rev. Jamie Page officiating.  A visitation will be held the evening before the service from 5-7 PM on Thursday, April 10, at Faith Family Church.  A private burial will follow the service at the Wells Family Farm for immediate family only.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Faith Family Church.  Final arrangements are under the direction of Friemonth-Freese Funeral Service and online condolences may be shared at friemonthfreesefuneralservice.com.
