Martha Lois (Amick) Gebhardt was born August 4, 1935 at St. Joseph Hospital in Boonville, MO, a daughter to the late Lewis and Leta (Kelso) Amick.  Martha grew up in Glasgow, MO, where she was baptized, and is on the cradle roll at Glasgow United Methodist Church.  She graduated from Glasgow High School in 1953.  Martha began dating Ken Gebhardt, with their first date being in August of 1950, at church, with Martha playing the organ.  Martha spent many years playing the organ at the Glasgow UMC, beginning in 1950.  After dating 6 years, Ken and Martha had a beautiful wedding at Glasgow UMC on August 26, 1956. Their first year of marriage, Ken and Martha lived on the Central Methodist University campus at one of the WWII Quonset hut homes.  While at CMU, Martha studied organ under Dr. Dean Spayde who was instrumental in her dedication to music.  She was also active in the marching band along with the Kappa Sorority.  In May of 1957, Martha graduated from CMU with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in education and a minor in music.

After graduation she joined Ken in the family business in Columbia, MO, and later in Dallas, TX.  They shared a lifetime together in business.  Martha was involved in her children’s lives including both Girl and Boy Scouts.  She taught Sunday school throughout the years along with being choir director.  When Martha and Ken returned to Glasgow, she was part of the Glasgow Study Club, United Methodist Women, Howard County DAR, Howard County Election Judge, organist for Glasgow United Methodist Church, and volunteered her time playing music at the nursing home in Glasgow.  Martha also had a love of travel, which began with her parents when they would explore the western United States.  She had the opportunity to work in Estes Park, CO during college, which became one of her favorite places.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents, and leaves behind her loving husband Ken of 67 years.  She is also survived by three children, Kathleen Stephenson and husband, Gary, of Carrollton, TX, Karen Briscoe and husband, Andy, of Reston, VA, and Kenneth Gebhardt, Jr. of Glasgow, MO; three grandchildren, Drew Briscoe and wife, Keeley, of Great Falls, VA, Callie Briscoe, of Edgewater, MD, and Elizabeth Stephenson, of Dallas, Texas; and great-granddaughter, Sutton Ann Briscoe, of Great Falls, VA.
