Marvin Earl Obituary

Fayette resident and longtime business owner, Marvin Earl, age 90, passed away unexpectedly at University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia on October 11, 2024.

Marvin Stanley Earl was born September 3, 1934 in Carthage, MO.  He was one of three children born to the late Mahlon Stanley and Maud Lois (Cline) Earl.  He attended and graduated from Jasper High School with the class of 1951.  Marvin furthered his education at the University of Missouri–Columbia, where he graduated with a BSc in Dairy Manufacturing.  On March 13, 1954, Marvin married the love of his life, Doris Probert, at the Zion Church in Jasper County.  The couple shared 70 wonderful years of marriage.

Marvin lived a life centered around his faith and his work.  He founded and operated Earl Veterinary Supply outside of Fayette for over 50 years and continued to do so until his passing.

Marvin’s faith in the Lord was unwavering. He was a devout and active member of Faith Family Church in Fayette for many years.  Marvin also had a remarkable talent for quoting scripture from memory.  He truly loved spreading the word of God and encouraging others to trust in Him and have faith.

In addition to this, Marvin was often an advocate for sharing the Word of God with area youth. He regularly shuttled local children to church services and activities to help them gain a relationship with Christ.  In his spare time Marvin was an avid and gifted gardener.  He was also an active supporter of the University of Missouri and Mizzou Athletics.  Marvin chose to donate his body to the University of Missouri School of Medicine for science and research.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Doris Earl of Fayette, MO; four sons, Martin (L. Jenene) Earl of Sturgis, SD, Marlin Earl of Armstrong, MO, Mahlon Earl of Johnston, IA, and Max (Dedra) Earl of Jefferson City, MO; eight grandchildren, Wesley Earl, Lindsey Hudson, Georgia Lee Earl, Kathleen Washburn, Traci Earl, Mackenzie Johnmeyer, Samuel Earl, and Rachel Earl; and six great-grandchildren, Lilly Washburn, Violet Washburn, Christian Washburn, Andrew Hudson, Jet Earl and Hazel Roth.  In addition to his parents, Marvin was preceded in death by two siblings, Mary Catherine Willoughby and Francis Earl.
