Maxine Bynum

Maxine Bynum, age 91, passed away peacefully at Glasgow Gardens July 12, 2023. 

Ethel Maxine Bynum was born August 5, 1931 in the Richland Community, south of Glasgow, MO, to Johnson and Lorene (Dibble) Bynum.  She graduated from Dalton High School in 1949.  Maxine worked for Laurence Jackson for many years, and later worked for Sam and Barb Audsley.  She retired in 1994.  Maxine then worked on the Green Thumb program, Lewis Library and Glasgow Public Schools.  After retiring from those places, Maxine volunteered at the Glasgow Senior Center and food pantry.  She was a devoted member of Lewis Chapel Community Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Patricia Cason of Leavenworth, KS; three grandsons, Herbert Cason, Jr., of Leavenworth, KS, William Cason of Quartz Hill, CA and Marcus Cason of Leavenworth, KS; four great-grandchildren, Yasmin, Marley, Marcus and Mylo; a sister, Thelma Miles of Kansas City, MO; and a sister-in-law, Nadine Bynum of Kansas City, MO.  She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to her parents, Maxine was preceded in death by her son-in-law Herbert Cason Sr., three brothers, Myrl, Virgil, and John Henry, and three sisters, Georgeanna Hill, Eva Mae Banty and Hortense Bynum

A funeral service honoring the life of Ms. Bynum will be 11 AM, Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at Friemonth-Freese Funeral Home in Glasgow, with Rev. Regina Wilson officiating.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.  Burial will follow the service at Lincoln Cemetery in Glasgow.  Memorial contributions are suggested to Lewis Chapel Community Church, in care of the funeral home.
