Michael Holst

Michael host passed away July 9, 2023 at Ashley Manor Care Center in Boonville.  He was 76 years of age.

Michael Wilson Holst was born October 22, 1946 in Kansas City, MO to Wils and Billie Jean (Stanley) Holst.  Mike graduated from Northeast High School in Kansas City.  He furthered his education from the University of Central Missouri at Warrensburg with a BS degree in History and Political Science. 

He married Molly Rascoe on June 17, 1967.  They were married 17 years and had two children, Shani and Michael.

Michael worked as a quality control supervisor for General Mills out of college.  Then he moved to Massachusetts to work for Parker Brothers, then back home to Lisbon in 1972 to start a career with Toastmaster.  While with Toastmaster he traveled to China for six months to set up their quality control. After retiring from there, he went to work for the Missouri Dept. of Corrections for a number of years.

Mike never met a stranger; he enjoyed visiting with people and always had a smile and kind words to all he met.  He loved fishing, rock hunting and spending time with his family.

He is survived by one daughter, Shani (Steve) Shipp of Franklin, MO and one son, Michael E. (Kristal) Holst of Tijuana, Mexico, five grandchildren, Toby (Emily), Maggie Mae, Dora, Kristopher and Emmi, two step-grandchildren, Ethan (Courtney) and Kyler Shipp and one great grandchild, Nirvana Blue along with a number of nieces, nephews and friends.

A funeral service honoring Michael will be 11 AM, Thursday, July 13, 2023 at the Friemonth-Freese Funeral Home in Glasgow with Brother Ken Stacy officiating.  Visitation will be one hour before the service.  Burial will be in Washington Cemetery. 

Memorials are suggested Washington Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
