Armstrong resident, Mike Vroman, passed away at the age of 71 on August 22, 2025, at the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia.

Michael Steven Vroman was born May 5, 1954 in Fayette, MO.  He was one of three boys born to the late J.D. and Darline Emma (Potthast) Vroman.  Mike graduated from Fayette High School with the class of 1972.  A year later on June 22, 1973, Mike married the love of his life, Marilyn Thompson, at the Armstrong Baptist Church.  Under this union, the couple have shared five children and over 52 years of marriage.  Being a lifelong farmer, Mike had a strong work ethic.  When he wasn’t working, he was tinkering with his farm equipment.  For the past eight years, and up until his time of death, Mike was also working for Howard County Road and Bridge.  Mike was a fighter.  Being diagnosed with cancer multiple times, and having the will power to keep fighting, is a true testament to his character.  When he wasn’t busy working, Mike enjoyed watching a good western and sparking up a good conversation with family and friends.

Survivors include his wife of the home, Marilyn Vroman; five children, Michael (Carmen) Vroman of Armstrong, MO, Nathan (Jenny) Vroman of Fayette, MO, Tim Vroman of Armstrong, MO, Melissa Vroman, and Jessica Vroman, both of Fayette, MO; 11 grandchildren, Garren, Carter, Hoyt, Rylan, Sophie, Paige, Kennady, Emma, Haden, Latham and Lanna.  In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by two brothers, Randall and Don Vroman.

Visitation will be 5-7 PM, Thursday, August 28, 2025 at Friemonth-Freese Funeral Home in Fayette.  Funeral services will 10 AM, Friday, August 29, 2025 at the funeral home in Fayette, with Rev. Earl Howell officiating.  Burial will follow the service at Walnut Hill Cemetery in Armstong.
