Glasgow resident, Nadine Monnig passed away May 17, 2016 at Golden Living Center. She was 86 years of age. Nadine S. Monnig was born March 29, 1930 in Aholt, MO to Steve and Anna (Niekamp) Schaefer, Sr. Nadine married Eugene Monnig November 25, 1958 and he preceded her in death April 30th, 1984. Nadine had a day care business in her home from 1985 to 2013 taking care of many young children in Glasgow. She was an avid embroider and enjoyed working on crossword puzzles, watching ballgames and visiting with family and friends. She was a member of St. Mary's Church. She is survived by one brother, Jerome (Sheryl) Schaefer of Fayette, two sisters, Mildred Brand of Fayette and Stella Niemeier of Belton, MO along with numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and many friends. Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by four brothers, Irvin "Bud", Melvin "Beetle", James "Jim" and Steve "Jr." Schaefer, twin sister, Angeline Noth and sister, Jenny Rose Monnig. A funeral mass will be 10 AM, Saturday, May 21, 2016 at St. Mary's Church in Glasgow with Father Alex Gabriel officiating. Burial will be in Washington Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 7 PM, Friday evening at Friemonth-Freese Funeral Home in Glasgow with a Prayer Service and Rosary at 7 PM. Memorials are suggested to St. Mary's School or Church in care of the funeral home.
