Patsy Via, age 81, passed away at Katy Manor in Pilot Grove, MO on October 20, 2024.

Patsy Dean Via was born March 26, 1943 in Rocheport, MO, a daughter to Harold and Lois Marie (Leach) Garrett.  Patsy graduated from New Franklin High School with the class of 1961.  On August 4 1984, Patsy married James Lewis Via in Columbia, MO and the couple have enjoyed over 40 years of marriage.  Patsy worked at the University of Missouri Hospital and Clinics as an account clerk for 27 years until she retired in 2003.  In her spare time, she enjoyed bird watching, tending to her garden, cooking and watching the St. Louis Cardinals.

Survivors include her husband, James Via; six children, Robert (Denise) Smith, Tammy Smith, Mike Smith, Bryan Smith, John Smith, and Greg (Roberta) Smith; and step-daughter, Melinda (Lee) Schnyder.  Patsy is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold Garrett and Lois Marie Garrett-Hyde, two siblings, Shirley Beuer and James Garrett, grandson, Derrick Smith and step-son JL Via.

Following Patsy’s final wishes, there will be no public memorial service at this time.  Her family will hold a private celebration of life at a later date.
