Raymond Hunter Obituary

Raymond passed away peacefully in the early hours of December 26, 2024, at his home in Glasgow, Missouri.  Ray was 74 years young.   He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Joyce (Painter) Hunter, who has been by his side for more than 52 years.  Ray is also survived by his two loving sisters, Patty (Jim) Lawhon and Lorrie Blevins; his nieces, Lorrie Tyler (Jason) Rebecca (Jerry) Duke, and nephew Ryan (Courtney) Blevins, and great nieces, Raeya Blevins, Emma Laird and Olivia Laird, and great nephews, Cade Blevins Jax Blevins and Hunter Laird, Waylon Duke and Otto Duke.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Clare (Bud) and Norma Hunter.  Ray was also extremely close to his late Nana, Lora Harris and many cousins, aunts and uncles.

Although born in Sacramento, Ray lived in Roseville, California until he was 7, when the family moved to North Highlands.  Ray is a graduate of Highlands High School, where he was active in baseball and drama.  He then earned an associate’s degree from Sacramento State College, where he majored in sociology.  Ray played little league throughout his youth and was known as a home run hitter, where in one game he hit 5 home runs, after which the league moved the center field fence back a few feet.  He loved baseball.

Ray was retired from a long career as a Title Officer for First American Title.  He also worked for CalFire for a few years in his youth fighting forest fires and loved the family cabin in the national forest where many wonderful memories were made.

Ray and his bride moved to Glasgow Missouri 10 years ago, but Ray always considered Roseville his home.

His many friends will remember him as posting pictures of his faithful dog, Buddy at Stump Island and 3-legged cat, Mew Mew and of course, Haley at the Shire.  His family will remember him as the nicest guy in the world, who would do anything for you and be thrilled that he could.

Ray was very loved and will be sorely missed.

There will be a private celebration of life held in California, at a later date that is convenient for the family.  Final arrangements are under the direction of Friemonth-Freese Funeral service of Glasgow and online condolences may be shared at friemonthfreesefuneralservice.com.
