Richard "Rick" Strodtman Obituary
Richard (“Rick”) Edwin Strodtman, 74, of Glasgow, MO peacefully passed away at home on May 13, 2026. He was born on June 21, 1951, in Moberly, MO to Howard and Etheda (Monnig) Strodtman. He was the oldest of four siblings. He graduated from Glasgow High School and then enlisted in the U.S. Army National Guard serving alongside many of his lifelong friends from 1970-1976.
Agriculture was engrained in Rick’s heart. He spent four decades farming before working for MFA from 1998-2025 spraying crops and hauling grain. Rick loved driving a semi, despite the long hours and “idiots on the road”. His trips hauling grain provided him the opportunity to call his spouse and kids for chats while sitting in line and to meet people all over the State. He loved to talk farming.
Rick was loyal to John Deere and spent his later years restoring pedal tractors and other antique toys. His eye for detail and insistence on doing things the right way allowed him to turn these toys, often rescued from dumpsters, into family treasures. Of all his joys in life, his greatest was being “Papa” to his four granddaughters whom he loved dearly.
Rick enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, sitting on the porch, and Sunday drives to the Bottoms. He is survived by his wife, Patty, whom he married July 3, 1971, children Kyle (Julie), Kayla, and Tyler, cherished grandchildren, Sabrina, Carissa, Hailey, and Stella, and siblings Steve, Mitch, and Kristi. He is predeceased by his parents and a sister, Karen.
Rick will be remembered for his strong work ethic, quiet strength, love of the outdoors, and deep devotion to his family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Visitation is 4-6 PM, Sunday, May 17, 2026 at Friemonth-Freese Funeral Home in Glasgow. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 AM, Monday, May 18, 2026 at St. Mary Church, with Fr. Joshua Duncan officiating. Interment will follow the service at Washington Cemetery.
