Ricky James, beloved son, friend, and cherished member of his community, passed away on April 2, 2026, surrounded by those who loved and cared for him. He was born on September 24, 1959, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Ms. Elester Campbell of Tennessee and Mr. David James of Florida. Ricky was the fifth of five children and will be remembered for his kindness, strength, and the lasting impact he made on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Ricky grew up surrounded by family and friends who valued his warm spirit and generous heart. Throughout his life, he was known for his dedication and his ability to bring comfort and laughter to those around him.

Ricky found joy in the simple moments spent with loved ones. Some of his most treasured memories were made with friends while attending Chiefs games, where he enjoyed the excitement, camaraderie, and shared passion for his team. His compassion, loyalty, and sense of humor left a lasting impression, and his presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His caregivers were more than caregivers—they were family, and their love and dedication meant the world to him.

He is survived by his sisters, Mrs. Mae Collins of Troy, Missouri, and Mrs. Katie Watkins of Flint, Michigan; his brother-in-law, Mr. Jody Collins; his cousin, Pearlene Flake; Phil Flake; and his nephew, Aaron Simms of Jefferson City, along with extended family members and close friends who will continue to honor his memory. He was preceded in death by one of his brothers.

Friends and community members gathered to celebrate Ricky’s life on April 8, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the Braun Home Administrative Office, sharing memories and honoring the legacy he leaves behind. The service was officiated by Pastor Jamie Paige of Faith Family of Fayette, Missouri.

Ricky James will be deeply missed, but his memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
