Fayette resident, Robert C. Holst passed away at his home on April 2, 2014. He was 93 years of age. Robert Charles Holst was born on September 27, 1920 in Gravois Mills, MO to Harley and Nellie (Conner) Holst. He was one of 14 children in the Holst family and was raised during the trying times of the Great Depression. He graduated from Glasgow High School in 1939. In August of 1943 he enlisted in the U.S. Army. R.C. worked in construction as a carpenter. He later married Ramona Lopez June 4, 1994. Robert lead a life of hard work, he loved the outdoors and being close to the earth. He was a member of the Lisbon Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife Ramona; three sons, Geary Holst of San Francisco, CA, James W. Holst of Gulf Shores, Alabama, and Carl Holst of Rocheport, MO; three brothers, David and Dewey, both of Fayette, and Daniel Holst of Burr Oak, MI; one sister, Tiny Burchard of Sturgis, MI; two granddaughters, Kristine Vroman and Stefanie Mildenberger; two great-grandchildren, Jana Holtzclaw and Chase Holst; survivors from Ramona's family include: Mr. & Mrs. Kintner, Isabell, Mrs. Cigala, Mr. & Mrs. Scott, Mr. & Mrs. Claybrook, Lydia, Hope and Justin, Rosemary, Addison, Casar and a number of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents, R.C. was preceded in death by five brothers, Jack, Wils, Johnny, Dolcy, and Noah, and four sisters, Naomi, Kathryn, Nell and Nehemiah.
