Armstrong, MO resident, Vernon Stice, Jr., age 78, passed away suddenly at his home on May 26, 2024.

Vernon Glen Stice, Jr. was born March 30, 1946 in San Diego, CA.  He was the son of the late Vernon Glen and Rosemary (Benson) Stice, Sr.  Vernon attended and graduated from Smithton High School with the class of 1965.  Following high school, Vernon enlisted with the United States Navy.  He proudly served his country as an aviation electronics technician working primarily on aircraft navigation equipment.  He was honorably discharged July 19, 1971.  Vernon was united in marriage with Esther Darlene Haegele.  Darlene preceded him in death on March 16, 2017.  Vernon started his career as a television repairman with RCA.  He then worked for Sigmund Television for numerous years.  In his spare time, Vernon enjoyed fishing, gardening and trips to the casino.  Vernon will be remembered as being charitable, helping people in need.  He was also a jokester, always willing to share a joke and make people laugh.

Survivors include his two children, David Stice of Maryland Heights, MO and Jennifer (Matt) Curry of Hillsboro, MO; step-daughter, Patricia Ehlenbeck; eight grandchildren, Jenna, PFC. Michael, Marion, Cecelia, Declan, Katie, Dylan and David; two great-grandchildren, June and Paislee Rose.  In addition to his wife and parents, Vernon was preceded in death by his brother, Bill Stice and a step daughter, Martha Loddeke.

There will be a private family gathering honoring the life of Vernon at a later date.  Vernon’s final resting spot will be next to his father at Dripping Spring Cemetery, north of Columbia, MO.
