Rural Gilliam resident, Bill Meyer, age 92, passed away suddenly at his home on December 12, 2022.

William Anthony Meyer was born in Saline County on July 18, 1930, a son to the late Frank H. and Katherine W. (Brucks) Meyer. Bill attended All Saints Catholic School in West Glasgow for his elementary education and then graduated from Glasgow High School. On October 6, 1951, Bill married the love of his life, Betty Ann Wilson at St. Mary Church in Glasgow. Bill and Betty enjoyed nearly 69 years of marriage until Betty’s passing on August 12, 2020. Bill was a man that lived his life as a dedicated family man with a strong work ethic. He spent his entire career as a lifelong farmer, owning and operating his family farm. Bill was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather and will be missed by family and friends.

Survivors include his six children, Bill (Jacqueline) Meyer, Jr. of Lohman, MO, Robert Meyer of Glasgow, MO, Mary Kay (Bob) Anglen of Slater, MO, Michael Meyer of Glasgow, MO, Richard (Shirley) Meyer of Glasgow, MO, and Randall (Tammy) Meyer of Gilliam, MO; six grandchildren, Jill, Nick, Jess, Billy III, Wesley and Amanda; and 12 great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, Bill was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Meyer, Jr.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Thursday, December 15, 2022 at Friemonth-Freese Funeral Home in Glasgow. Rosary service will be held immediately following the visitation at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m., Friday, December 16, 2022 at St. Mary Church in Glasgow, with Fr. Joshua Duncan officiating. Interment will follow the funeral mass at Washington Cemetery in Glasgow.
